JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

This role is positioned within the Research and Organisational Development function of Allianz Ireland’s HR Department and reports directly to the Head of Research and Organisational Development, Richard Cotter. The position is located in Allianz House, Elmpark, Merrion Road, Dublin 4.

Action research in Allianz Ireland is deliberate, solution-oriented investigation conducted in order to improve and/or sustain organisational effectiveness with the mutual advantage of all stakeholders in mind. It is characterised by recurring cycles of problem identification, systematic data collection, reflection, analysis, results presentation, leading to evidence-guided action experimentation. Our Action Researcher will work with business teams to conduct such research into, and develop action strategies for, real-world business problems and/or opportunities which can have an impact on organisational effectiveness holistically conceived.

Our Action Researcher will act as a reliable and persuasive source of research expertise in the OD team and wider HR function. They will also act as a strategic change agent for the organisation and be viewed as a true business partner by all colleagues.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnose business problems and opportunities with a wide range of organisational stakeholders using action research principles and processes
• Plan and design bespoke research interventions
• Collecting and analysing all types of data using a variety of methods (both quantitative and qualitative; typically a mixture of both)
• Write up and present to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, action research reports
• Design and contract with stakeholders ‘action experiments’ which are then evaluated in order to ascertain business and organisational impact
• Liaise with other OD / HR colleagues to ensure the action research agenda aligns with the department’s overarching People and Organisation Strategy

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Essential Experience and Skills:

• Familiarity with action research principles and methods
• Demonstrable ability to gather, analyse and report on quantitative and qualitative data
• Prior experience of researching business problems/opportunities within an organisation, and a proven record of impact based on same
• A relevant Masters Degree (e.g., Business, Social Science, Anthropology)
• Proficiency in MS Office suite(Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

Desirable Experience and Skills:

• Relevant qualification in research methodology
• Relevant qualification in Six Sigma or other Business Process Re-Engineering topic (e.g. Business Excellence)
