Our client, a leading IT company based in Limerick currently has an opening for an experienced Database Administrator to join their team. This is a permanent, full-time position and is offering a very competitive salary and benefits package.
This is a Microsoft SQL Server DBA role largely responsible for providing operational database services to the company.
Responsibilities:
- Managing SQL Server instances in a virtualised environment
- Managing customer databases in a Production environment
- Managing production databases
- Performance Tuning and Optimisation (PTO)
- Managing High Availability of SQL Server databases
- Managing database backups and disaster recovery
- Resolving database related incidents
- Automation of operational tasks
- Developing operational policies, procedures, controls and standards
- Helping Developers to improve database performance
Experience and Education:
- 5+ years of experience with Database Administration for Microsoft SQL Server
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other relevant discipline
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems
- Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server
- Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts
- Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics
- Good knowledge of T-SQL and scripting (including PowerShell)
- Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations in a virtualised environment
