Job Description

What an interaction designer does at workday:

• User research, interaction design, wireframing and prototyping.
• Distill complex problems into simple and elegant user experiences.
• Clearly rationalize and justify design work and advocate for our users’ needs.
• Work closely with user researchers to better inform designs through users’ point of view.
• Collaborate with team members to identify usability concerns within the product, select the best methodology to clarify the issues, and present design solutions.

• Have you worked with Invision, Sketch, Photoshop or Illustrator? 
• Is designing applications in your blood?
• Do you have experience discovering, evaluating, and documenting interface design patterns and standards?
• Does creating layouts, using toolkits and design patterns come second nature to you?
• Do you like the challenge of distilling user research findings, business requirements and technical requirements into captivating user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Be the lead designer for multiple products that may include multiple designers
• Make recommendations to cross functional team members including designers, product managers and developers
• Support product development by translating interaction design requirements into visually workable designs that adhere to Workdays branding guidelines and design principles.
• Creatively apply the best user interface design ideas of the consumer web to business applications.
• ​Host design reviews and workshops

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in designing apps
• BA/BS in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Human Factors, Psychology, HCI, Product Design, Architecture, Industrial design or a related field
• Proven ability to take leadership role in projects that span multiple teams
• Ability to deliver on time to a high quality, working in a fast paced agile environment.

• A passion for UX knowledge and process; you love all things mobile, social, and innovative
• Familiarity with user centered design research methodologies
• Continuous improvement mindset

Plus 3 or more of the following:

• Familiarity with user centered design research methodologies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders; i.e. technical developers, business leaders, and customers
• A passion for UX knowledge and process; you love all things mobile, social, and innovative
• Solid design skills – layout, typography, color, web design patterns
• Software knowhow: CS6/Cloud (AI, PSD); wireframing tools, Google docs / MS Office
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
• Good sense and understanding of visual design best practices
